MAPOPO COMMUNITY FARM

There is a lovely farm in Fan Ling, New Territories called Mapopo Community Farm. They grow many organic vegetables there and do many different workshops such as bread-making and farming courses.

Without Mapopo and our friends there, HK Farm would never have opened so soon. The folks at Mapopo kindly let us dig up some very nutritious top soil and take it to our rooftop in Ngau Tau Kok.

The soil is organic and highly nutritious. Our rooftop produce is growing very well and occassionally we are treated with surprises such as wild flowers sprouting, long worms, snails and even mushrooms.

We are also using some of Mapopo soil in our compost which speeds up the breakdown so much faster.

Thank you so much Mapopo especially Sunny and Becky : )

SLOW EXPERIENCE

SLOW EXPERIENCE are an organisation of people who do Sustainable Lifestyle and Organic Work. They run a lovely rooftop farm in Wanchai and the ACO bookshop cafe that is on the first floor.

Sunny had a great idea of building a beehive from pallet wood that he and Eunice found. The bees on the SLOW roof will be swarming soon so we will need a spare beehive.

We spent four hours building this upcycled beehive on the roof with manual tools - no elctric saw this time! It's a SLOW beehive!!

We're very happy with the result. The SLOW beehive has a lot of colour and personality. Sunny said it looks like an elephant.

Glenn took many photos and made a lovely short film - coming soon.
